The Canterbury side instead takes Canterbury Road to the WestConnex M8 tunnel and comes out close to the terminals. Both are short trips, generally between about 10 and 24 km, but the M5 East and the King Georges Road approach are among the most congestion-prone stretches in Sydney at peak, which is why the pickup time carries a margin.

What makes Canterbury-Bankstown different to drive

Proximity is the story here. Canterbury sits roughly 10 km from Sydney Airport and even the outer suburbs of the district are inside about 24 km, so these are short, quick transfers. That also means the price of getting it wrong is high in relative terms: a surge multiplier on a fifteen-minute trip at 5am can cost more than the entire fixed fare, and a fifteen-minute trip is exactly the kind a driver is most likely to decline.

The district is dense and highly varied, from the older terraced streets of Canterbury, Campsie and Belmore through to the larger blocks of Padstow Heights, Picnic Point and Georges Hall on the river. Narrow streets and restricted parking in the inner suburbs mean the driver needs a specific address and a plan for where to stop, which is part of the confirmation we send before travel.

Western Sydney International from Canterbury-Bankstown

Western Sydney International at Badgerys Creek opens to passengers on 25 October 2026 and we will run transfers from the first day. From Canterbury-Bankstown the drive to WSI is roughly 32–40 km, about 40–48 minutes, against 10–24 km to Kingsford Smith. WSI fares are quoted individually because the distances are so different from the Kingsford Smith run.

Cruise terminals
